The Ala Wai Canal is an artificial waterway that was completed in 1928 located on the northern border of Waikiki. After the completion of the Ala Wai Canal, valuable land was reclaimed from a wetland that has become the world famous Waikiki Beach area. This waterway parallels Ala Wai Blvd. and is a popular spot for joggers and strollers as a well lit sidewalk runs the entire length.
